Formed in Los Angles back in the year 2001 by Philadelphia transplant Keith Gibbs and Detroit native’s Rick Ferrante & Clayton Charles, Sasquatch has had the pleasure of refining their own brand of super heavy bone crunching rock and roll on the same stages with some of LA’s finest including: Fireball Ministry, Nebula, and Unida which in turn, has quickly helped the band become a local favorite and has helped to develop a name that is synonymous with quality kick ass rock. In 2006, the need for new low end man came up, and Jason Casanova of Tummler jumped in and delivered the goods. Drawing on influences from 70′s metal, rock and psychedelia their songwriting approach is simple and mainly relies on the theories of feel and technique, a sorely missed aspect of most modern day rock amalgamations. But don’t let their technique fool you, tight as they may be, when they come to play the kid gloves are off. Just ask any of the lucky folks who are already privileged enough to have seen them live, you will fully comprehend what we are talking about…
If any band in this century is fit to follow in the mighty Zeppelin’s footsteps by naming each successive album with it’s corresponding Roman numeral, it has got to be Sasquatch. ”III” picks up right where ”I” and ”II” left off. The men of Sasquatch turn the blues upside down, pass it under a stream of vintage psychedelica, puree it in and blender and then run it through Mojave Amplification.
”III” is the sound of a band coming into its own, finding its footing and standing tall. The songs are thick and fully realized. The sounds resonate and run free like a beast in the wild. And with guests like MonsterMagnet’s Ed Mundell the surprises just don’t stop.
Look for the album in stores this April and on the road this Spring. Catch the beast before it disappears again between the trees.
